Saying Goodbye In A Good Way

A friend and client wished to explore her subconscious mind and anything her subconscious mind wanted to reveal and share with her at this time. So without any goal except for the desire to explore, her deceased uncle appeared and she was finally able to say goodbye in a good way.

This being her first hypnotherapy session I asked her subconscious mind to take her to a happy moment in time. Here’s what happened.

A: Describe the scene

C: I'm in Hawaii and am standing on a rock with my sister and brother. We are overlooking the ocean. (smiling) I am four years old and can feel the warmth of the rock beneath me and a tree behind me. Even though I am with my siblings I feel independent.

A: What's happening now?

C: I want to go to the ocean and even though I'm only four years old, I am being guided by my adult self to go, saying I will be safe. (smiling)

A: Describe what's happening.

C: My little and agile body is scrambling over large rocks. It's an adventure, and I feel strong and sure I will be ok. I reach the ocean, I dance about, twirl and drop to my knees, I feel the waves going around my legs and it's almost as if they go through me. One with the ocean (smiling) I see birds flying above me and spot little crabs in the sand. (Pause) I wade out and can feel the ebb and flow of the ocean (Pause) I release and let go, and lie into her fullness, allowing the ocean to twist me and rock me. I feel supported and held. (Pause) Floating on my back, I see the vast and cosmic sky above me. All around me. (Pause) (furrowed brow)

A: What's happening?

C: I am now in a field with tall grass, it feels like another land far away perhaps Ireland or Scotland. Tallgrass blowing, near the ocean, as it feels blustery and coastal, but further inland.

A: Lift from this field like a cloud and look down, can you see what country this field is in?

C: It looks like Ireland or Scotland. (Pause) The sky and clouds are dark like a storm is coming but it's not a storm. (Pause) The elements are more extreme here.

A: Ok, what are you doing in this field, do you have a mission?

C: I am here to experience this life fully, touching the grass, the wildflowers. (Pause) I have grass in my hands. (Pause) I sense am thirteen or fourteen years old.

A: Look down at your feet and describe what you see.

C: Strange, I can't see my feet. I feel that my feet are still in the ocean, where I just was lying, so I can't see them.

C: No. I sense somebody is walking towards me. It's my uncle Bill. We are not blood-related, he was married to my aunt, but he is my uncle. (Pause) He passed two weeks ago. He is a kind and gentle man, who was well-liked. He was a good husband to his wife and kind to his children. He had a gentle heart ...(laughing) as the Irish say " He is of good stock". (Pause) He lead a very simple but good life.

C: I see a light blue dress billowing.

A: And look at your arms and wrists and tell me what you see?

C: Blue and white puffy sleeves. Maybe of a different time or generation. Not clear.

A: Are you alone in this field?

C: No. I sense somebody is walking towards me. It's my uncle Bill. We are not blood-related, he was married to my aunt, but he is my uncle. (Pause) He passed two weeks ago. He is a kind and gentleman, who was well-liked. He was a good husband to his wife and kind to his children. He had a gentle heart ...(laughing) as the Irish say " He is of good stock". (Pause) He lead a very simple but good life.

A: Is there anything you wish to say to him?

C: Uncle Bill, thank you for being good to me and my family, thank you for taking time with me. You were always there for my phone calls and you listened to me. (Pause)

A: Ok, I want you to be your uncle Bill and respond to what she, your niece just said to you. (Pause)

C: Oh Mara, you made it easy to listen to you. It was fun watching you grow into the person you are. Thank you for always reaching out to see how Betty and I were doing. I enjoyed seeing you in Hawaii, it was nice to watch you play in the ocean. (Pause)

A: Ok, now switch and respond to what your uncle has just said.

C: Thank you. And if you see my Dad would you please tell him hello for me? Send him my love (Pause)

A: Switch and be your uncle.

C: Yes, I will. (Pause) I love you (smiles) (Pause)

A: Switch and respond to your uncle.

C: I love you too. (smiles) (Pause)

A: Is there anything else you wish to say to your uncle before we close this scene.

C: No.

A: Ok, I am going to be silent so that you can be with your uncle right now. (Pause)

And now it is time to call you back to your present self and time. I will count from one to five and on five you will open your eyes feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenized. One bringing back with you all the insights and downloads received in this session, two bringing back with you any and all tools gained in this session, three return to the room you are in and self, four begging to move your toes and fingers, and five, feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated and when you are ready, open your eyes. (C slowly blinks her eyes open) Welcome back.

C later shared with me that in the pause and silence her Dad showed up and that he stood on her left and her uncle on her right. They walked, all three, through the fields towards the horizon. And that her uncle and Dad continued to walk on towards the horizon without her.

She also expressed that due to our current shelter in place order that, her cousins are unable to plan for their uncle’s funeral and that his burial services have been placed on hold.

This session gave her closure and the opportunity to say goodbye in a good way.

And that it made her feel good to see her deceased dad and uncle together, reunited.

She also shared that her aunt passed in December, and she was not surprised to see her peripherally in the space.

It is an honor to facilitate my clients experiences and I am always humbled by my client’s trust as well as their courage to look deep within themselves.
